Rapid Mortar Launcher by c-force Rapid Mortar Launcher by c-force
Originally was supposed to be part of [link] But PMG had problems with the overall result.

The idea was to design a mortar weapon with a means to fire rounds faster. The design was based on your average revolver.

You.. DO know that Mortars are they are are quite fast at laying down effective fire right? If you want to burn through some rounds, I've seen guys that have another one going down the pipe to fire off just half a second after the other shell has left.

Mortars aren't really a rapid fire needing deal any how, You mostly want to adjust as you go or at least get confirmation as to what you are hitting before you proceed.

That and ...frankly, the drop n pop mortar tube could most likely easily have a better shells per minute rate than the reloading of 6 more in a chamber.

To heavy, to Bulky, to much set up time, to easy for a remote to fail, To much down time between reloads, the fact you need to have a system that rotates and indexes properly with the barrels so you don't have an edge strike and kill your mortar crew. It is an interesting idea, but not like this.  The entire back end of the system is largely unnecessary and there is just to much that could go wrong, not to mention it seems like it would have crap balance, a large outline to give you away and seems not that adjustable for elevation.

Drum seems kinda pointless when a muzzle-loading mortar would shoot a lot faster for sustained barrages.

With a revolver-like design. Yeah, a drum would be pointless.

The design resembles a revolver. Therefore, your comment is invalid.

Oh, I realize it's a revolver design. I just mean that's extremely inefficient for a mortar because you'd have to reload it every six rounds - a fire support mission can extend to well over a dozen, and a constant rate of fire is generally more important than a quick burst of shells.

I use "six" as a placeholder, no clue how many you wanted it to hold.

I love to nit pick these sorts of designs.

The only thing I can find is the lack of a caliber. 50mm?

Great work!
